Worcester, MA 47 Lancaster St. approx. 0300 hrs 1/23/08. Worcester firefighters arrived to find a 2-1/2 story dwelling (I think I heard someone say it was vacant) fully involved. The fire progressed rapidly, and extended into the exposure D building, also a 2-1/2 story wood frame. Engine 16 suffered a mechanical failure which required the movement of all lines that had been run off of it to be moved to other companies. By the time I got there, the original fire building was on the ground (News interviews with the Chief have him saying it was down in 10 minutes), and companies were heavily engaged to keep the fire from spreading to the exposures. A great stop by the Worcester Jakes!

For the volume of fire the first due companies encountered, they made a great stop, as I was on scene within 15 minutes of the first due.
