Boston, MA approx 1345 hrs. 4/11/01.  Possibly a sight to see in Boston in the Future?  An American LaFrance/LTI Tiller Ladder Company that is scheduled for delivery to the Los Angeles City Fire Department made a stop in Boston.  Chief  of Department Paul Christian has been looking at many different types of ladders recently, mostly towers, and now this tiller.  In the second photo below, you can see the John Hancock Tower and Hancock Building next to it-staple of the Boston skyline that an LA Truck Company looks out of place in front of.

Boston, MA (Brighton Section) approx 2100 hrs. 4/8/01.  1234 Soldiers Field Rd.  A Fire on the fifth floor of an unsprinklered hotel required the transmission of a second alarm before being brought under control.  The fire was confined to one room, but the occupant of that room was forced to jump from the window.  He suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital by Boston EMS.

Lawrence, MA approx. 0315 hrs. 4/4/01.  203 Haverhill Street.  First arriving companies reported smoke showing from a 3 story apartment building.  A third alarm was transmitted about twenty minutes later.  Firefighting efforts were delayed, as firefighters alerted and evacuated residents from the building.  The building measured approx. 60 x 60.

Chelsea, MA approx. 0215 hrs. 4/4/01. 417 Broadway.  A second alarm on box 31 was struck shortly after arrival of first due companies for a fire in a store.  The store, located in a commercial block measuring 600 x 40 was confined to the store of origin (approx. 40 x 40) by fire walls.

Philadelphia, PA, approx. 0125 hrs 3/19/01.  Companies arriving at box 6992 found heavy fire conditions in a large vacant garage type building that measured 100' x 30'.  The building, located in the 3800 block of Thompson St., had been used as an auto auction, but was completely vacant at the time of this fire.  The roof collapsed within 30 minutes of the companies' arrival.
