Boston, MA, approx 0815 hrs. 12//6/03. Box 531, 33 Egremont Rd. (Brighton). First due companies were met with heavy fire from the first floor of a 3 story brick apartment building which measured approx. 50 X 60. Response times were extended and on scene operations were made treacherous by several inches of freshly fallen snow, which continued to fall throughout the operation.

Pawtucket, RI Baxter & Kenyon Streets approx. 1500 hrs. 11/14/03. A fire in a 3 story mill building approximately 300' X 75' that was undergoing preparations for demolition was fed by high winds, extending to multiple exposures in a 10 square block area.

Boston, MA (Brighton), 736 Cambridge St. (St. Elizabeth's Hospital). approx. 0230 hrs. 10/27/03. A postal worker inspecting a package from China was exposed to an unknown powdery white substance at the South Boston Postal Annex, and for some unknown reason, took a cab to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton for treatment before she could be quarantined by the USPS. Luckily, the USPS notified St. E's, and they were able to confine the victim to the cab, preventing contamination of the entire emergency room. The Boston Fire Department responded and setup a decontamination station. The victim and the cab driver were decontaminated and brought into the ER for treatment.

Cambridge, MA 3 Gore Street Place, approx. 0030 hrs. 8/14/03. First arriving companies immediately called for a working fire on box 124 due to the report of people trapped in a 2-1/2 story wood frame dwelling that sat on a small dead end, inaccessible by apparatus. Most of the firefighting operations were conducted using long hose lays and ground ladders.
